System requirements

Minimum requirements:

Operating system: Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server 2008*, Windows Server 2012+, 32/64 bit.

CPU:

Lite and Standard versions: any x86 processor.

Pro version: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2,2 GHz / AMD Phenom @ 2,1 GHz.

RAM: 2 Gb.

Video adapter: any.

Free space on local drive: 1 Gb.

*Windows Web Server 2008 is not supported by special module for graphical ReCaptcha2. Besides, this operating system often requires some configuring for using CapMonster2, for example, enabling necessary components, allowing acceess to system files, configuring protection software, etc, which should be performed by client himself. We recommend to test demo version before buying CapMonster2 and using it on this operating system.

Recommended requirements:

Operating system: Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server 2012+, 32/64 bit.

Lite and Standard version: Intel Core i3 @ 2.20 GHz (2 CPUs) / AMD Phenom @ 2,5 GHz.

Pro version: Intel Core i5 @ 3,1+ GHz (4+ CPUs) / AMD FX-4300 @ 3,8+ GHz (4+ CPUs).

RAM: 4 Gb.

Video adapter: Nvidia GeForce with CUDA (see the list on official website).

Free space on local drive: 2 Gb+.

Notes

Processor and video adapter

Captchas are mainly processed on CPU, therefore first of all, to ensure high performance of CapMonster2, you should have powerfull processor on your machine. Multi-core CPU such as Intel iCore will give you fast recognition of large number of captchas.

Video adapter also can be used for recognizing captchas and allows to save about 40% of CPU usage (depends on CPU and GPU), as well as boost recognition speed. CapMonster2 supports Nvidia adapaters with CUDA technology, you can find the list of such video adapters on nvidia official website. When choosing video card you should take into account CUDA cores, memory size and bitness.

For example, Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 will allow you to boost recognition speed to 5-15% comparing to recognition only on quad core Intel Core i5 3,1 GHz under stable workload with different captcha types. Processing captchas on eight-core Intel Xeon will be faster, but, if using video card with it, you still will be able to significantly save CPU and memory usage.

We don't recommend to buy expensive superpowerfull video card only in order to use it with CapMonster2. Part of processing still will be performed on CPU, and you won't be able to use all GPU resources, especially processing simple capthas.

If you plan to use CapMonster2 Lite or CapMonster2 Standard versions, powerfull processor and video card are not required, as limited number of threads will be available for captcha processing. But, Pro version with additional threads will require powerfull hardware.

We recommend to purchase additional threads portionally, increasing their number little by little and testing software performance. Even powerfull hardware not always ensures fast recognition in hungred of threads. For example, when you send captchas to server, processing speed will also depend on the network equipment and network load, as well as abilities of software, which sending captchas, to keep large number of opened connections. In some cases, network can be overloaded with large number of requests, but powerfull processor will use just half of resources.

RAM

There is special option Use adaptive system for setting parallelism degree in program settings. If you are working with a lot of different captcha types, and CapMonster2 performance is not stable, this option will help you to optimize memory usage by modules with high and low workload, and save some resources.

We don't recommend to enable this setting when you are trying to recognize just few types of captchas with stable workload. In this case, it may slow down recognition.

Free space

We are constantly updating captcha base and adding new types of captchas. Therefore, it's recommended to keep available some free space on local drive in order to download new captcha modules.
